BELLBROOK FIRE/EMS

Cadet Division

The Bellbrook Fire Department Cadet Division was formed in 1978 to give young people from the Bellbrook Community a first hand look at what the fire department did. The Cadet Division was also formed to act as a recruiting tool for the Bellbrook Fire Department as well as the fire service in general. The Cadet Division has grown and changed greatly since the 70's just as the fire service has.

The cadets get the unique opportunity to not only train with the fire department, but also work with, and among them. The cadets train every Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 6:30p.m.. They train in basic firefighting, emergency medical service skills and techniques. Trainings include fire behavior, fire suppression, rope rescue, self-contained breathing apparatus, CPR, First Aid, building construction, triage, and Search and Rescue.

The skills learned in the Cadet Division not only apply to the fire service but also can be applied to everyday life. Developed problem solving skills, leadership, time management, and respect are all enforced and expected in the program.

Requirements of cadet division applicants include a minimum of 13 years of age and a maximum of 19 years of age, completion of at least the sixth grade, mantain a 2.0 or higher grade point average, and a current medical physical. Interested applicants should call (937) 848-3272.

The cadet division is led by Firefighter Kevin Glueckert with the assistance of Firefighters Dusty Schneble, and Andrew Fehskens.
