Chief announces two promotionsTwo members of the Bellbrook Fire Department will receive promotions at the February 28, 2000 meeting of the Bellbrook City Council. Chief Scott Hall announced this week the promotion of Lieutenant Phillip Michael to the rank of captain and Firefighter Chad Roe to the rank of lieutenant. Michael has been with the department since 1979, a career member since 1986, and was the station commander at Fire Station 1. Michael is a firefighter and EMT-Paramedic, and serves as the department's liaison to the Dayton Regional Hazardous Materials Team and Suburban Officers of Training. Michael will join Chief Hall on the department's administrative team, supervising the department's three full-time firefighter/paramedics and four lieutenants. Michael says he is excited about his new role. "I'm very excited about the challenges this new position will bring," he said. "We've recently set some short- and long-term goals for the department, and with the leadership of Chief Hall and the other lieutenants, I believe we're well on our way to meeting and exceeding them." Michael resides in Bellbrook with his wife, Yvette, and their two children, Kristen and Matt. Firefighter Chad Roe will be promoted on Monday to the rank of lieutenant to fill the vacancy at Station 1. Roe has been with the department since 1994. A firefighter and EMT-Basic, He will assume the role of station commander and will supervise a platoon of firefighters from Station 1. Roe is involved in maintenance, equipment procurement and fire investigation teams with the department. Roe has been in the role of acting lieutenant since early November, when Michael was placed on injury leave. He says that the transition from acting lieutenant to lieutenant will be an easy one. "I've really enjoyed the new role, even with the increased responsibilities," he said. "I'm looking forward to serving the city in this new position for a long time to come."
