Lt. Abes

Chief Scott Hall announced this week the promotion of Firefighter / EMT Benjamin Abes to the rank of lieutenant.

Abes has been with the department since 1989, where he started as a cadet while in High School. He then became a Firefighter with the department in 1996 and has been a part-time employee for the fire department since 1999.

Abes will join department's leadership team, supervising the department's emergency medical operations and managing the computer information systems. Abes says he is excited about his new role.

"I'm very excited about the challenges this new position will bring," he said. "We've recently set some strategic planning goals for the department, and with the leadership of Chief Hall and the support of the department, I believe we're well on our way to meeting and exceeding them."

"I've really hope to enjoy the new role, even with the increased responsibilities," he added. "I'm looking forward to serving the city in this new position for a long time to come."

Abes resides in Bellbrook and is also employed with the Washington Township Fire Department.

Abes will be officially sworn in at the regular meeting of the Bellbrook City Council on January 8 at 7:30 p.m.
