BELLBROOK FIRE/EMS

Welcome to Fire Station 21

Fire Station 21 is located at 35 N. West Street, next to the Service Department, and shares a building with the city Water Department.

The department's full time staff work at this fire station, including Chief Hall and Capt. Michael. Their offices are just down the hall from the apparatus bay.

The bay holds two engines and one medic. On weekdays, if a fire call is dispatched, the full time crew takes Engine 21. But if the call for help is medical in nature, the crew will respond on Medic 21. At night, volunteers respond to the station to take apparatus dispatched to the call.

Medic 21 is an ambulance equipped to handle almost any emergency. Paramedics and EMTs are able to look at a picture of your heart with a heart monitor, give you oxygen to help you breathe, and even start intravenous lines, just like at the hospital. The medic also carries equipment to help you if you're injured. If you have a broken bone, they can put it in a splint, or if you're in a car accident, they can put you on a backboard to keep your back from becoming more injured.

Engine 21 is a fire engine capable of carrying 7 firefighters, but it usually just takes 3. It has a pump on board capable of pumping 1500 gallons of water each minute and also carries hand tools to help us do our jobs. Engine 21 also has EMS equipment in case it should be dispatched to help the medic.

Chief Hall uses his staff car for Incident Command operations at emergency incidents. Inside his car is a command area with city maps and guides. His console also has a slide out tray with an air pack, forcible entry tools and a flashlight.

Captain Michael also has a staff car.  His vehicle is equipped the same as Chief Hall's vehicle.  This is  because Captain Michael used his vehicle when Chief Hall is not available.
